Increasingly careful of their health and what they eat, consumers demand flavourful foods that are also healthy and nutritious. A recent study by the Federation des producteurs bovins du Quebec focused on the nutritional value of grain-fed veal revealed that grain-fed veal is a good choice for healthy eating.
All cuts considered, grain-fed veal is the leanest of all meats. Its fat content is comparable to that of chicken, a source of protein that is recognized as being low in fat. Therefore, it can be qualified as extra-lean meat.
Grain-fed veal is also a source of vitamins and minerals.
In short, it is...
- a source of iron, a mineral recognized for its role in the formation of red blood cells;
- an excellent source of vitamin B12, an essential element in the formation of red blood cells;
- an excellent source of zinc, which plays a part in the formation of tissue;
- a source of magnesium, a mineral essential in the formation of tissue and in bone development.
